Where can I find car insurance for my situation?

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

I’ve been without insurance for almost a year now. I canceled my old policy because I do not drive my car anymore and I’m selling it. So I finally bought a new car, and I am currently looking for insurance. But I haven’t had any insurance the past year. Where can I get insurance?

If you do not have to many points on your license, or another situation that would prevent you from acquiring insurance, than you should have no trouble. People who have not driven for years, for whatever reason can still buy insurance, as long as their license is in effect. (VALID). You can go on line to Geico, or one of the other mega insurance services. But I would recommend checking with your friends, family, co workers, for a referral to their insurance agent. Preferably a local insurance broker. They have more companies to write for, thus giving you a better choice, and better rates.

How much is car insurance for older muscle cars?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

I heard that car insurance is pretty expensive for older muscle cars, and I’d like to know around how much a month car insurance would be for a 1968 ford mustang?

I depends on what you plan to do with they car. If it’s a daily driver you’ll be stuck with liability, which is cheap. If you want classic car insurance you insure to the cars value and they limit your driving.

is classic car insurance better for a 1984 corvette or regular car insurance?

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

im planning on getting a 1984 corvette but the insurance for it is a little too high.i just found out about classic car insurance but i really don’t know much about it.but for classic car insurance,am i limited to a certain number of things like how far i can drive my car, when i can drive, etc?will the insurance actually be less or more for classic car insurance?and what is the best classic car insurance company i should go with?

I would go with the Classic Car Insurance because other wise you might not get as much as you want for your car if it is ever totaled or stolen. I know some classic car insurance is stated amount & regular insurance is ACV (Actual Cash Value)

Will car insurance offer a jump start to my car?

Friday, March 5th, 2010

My car doesn’t ignite and I’m guessing the battery is out. Will my car insurance company be able to come over and jump start my car? I use Farmer’s btw. Otherwise what’s the best solution?

Only if you have tow service included with your auto insurance package. Some companies include it by default (though they charge extra for it), but I’m sure with Farmers and other big companies you’ll have to opt in to that service. You can check with your insurance company, and they’ll be able to tell you right away whether you have it or not.

Also, don’t start a tow package just for this situation unless you’re ok with leaving your car sitting for a few days, at least. Especially with auto insurance tow packages, there’s a delay time between when you set it up and when you can actually file a claim. AAA may be like this as well, but it’s worth checking into because it has other benefits.

The best, and cheapest, solution would be to have somebody jump you — a friend or relative, ideally.

You can also call a tow company, but it’ll be cheaper for you to go out and buy a new battery. You could also go to a car-parts store, or a store like Walmart and purchase a battery charger / jumper — they charge your battery but also help to boost the juice enough to start your vehicle. This option could also be cheaper than hiring a tow truck. However, if this is your only vehicle… your options are likely limited to what I’ve listed here.

Usually, tow packages added onto your auto insurance are relatively cheap — $5 per month or there about. Unless you have something else, like a AAA membership, it might be worth considering because it can save you a lot of money in situations like this.

How does car insurance work when you get your license?

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

I am 15 years old. I know that you can get your permit when you are 15 and a half. I turn 15 and 6 months in March of 2010. First of all, I would also like to know how a permit works. I am an identical triplet, my mom cannot afford insurance for all of us. We have a 1985 BMW and we are preparing mechanical alternations on it. How can we all have car insurance to cover our payments?

Yikes!
Most companies will cover you automatically without rating and charging you while you have a permit only. Once you are licensed, you should be added. Multiples make it difficult, because it is more expensive. but license means needing to be added to policy or excluded from policy (the latter bars you from having any coverage if you drive and means you intend NEVER to drive).
Probably the wisest thing is to set up a separate policy for the three of you and your older car.
Check with an independent agent for help. There are companies out there that right policies of this kind for teenagers.
Good luck!

Am I required to get rental car insurance if I don’t have my own auto insurance?

Monday, March 1st, 2010

I am planning to sell my car and cancel my auto insurance. If I want to rent a car, am I required to buy their rental car insurance, since I wouldn’t have any other auto insurance otherwise?
If I use my Discover card to rent the car, Discover will provide me with a Collision Damage Waiver of up to $25,000. Would that count as insurance?

Yes Yes and Yes! It’s very important to have rental insurance. Let’s say you park the car on the street, and come back and its side swipped. They are going to come after you for it But if you have insurance, it should cover it.
