Speeding ticket in Ontario, How much will an increase be on my insurance per vehicle?

I have just gotten a speeding ticket in on my Ontario driver’s license. Can anyone tell me a rough figure as for how much as an average I could be paying on extra insurance for my vehicle when it gets updated? And how long will these penalty premiums be in effect? Thank you.

They company I work for will only run the MVR once. So there is a chance you will not see an increase. We do state in the policy that we can run the MVR at any time but the only time I have ever seen them run it again is if you have multi accident’s or your account gets red flagged or if it lapses and you try to reinstate the policy. Ever company will have different procedures so I cant promise it wont go up but if they do run the MVR then you can expect a 10%-30%increase.

I know in WA state where i live you aren’t required to carry motorcycle insurance, but i am curious if you need to have insurance if you are financing a bike?

Full coverage untill the bike is paid-off.

Sometimes states that are right next to each other have totally different insurance rates from the same company for the same car and driver. It’s not like driving magically becomes more dangerous when you cross the state line, so why does this happen?

Crime, driving and road conditions vary from state to state, city to city, even neighbourhood to neighbourhood. Loss statistics are used to establish the actual average cost to insure different vehicles for different uses in different places. I pay less for pleasure coverages, living a few miles outside Winnipeg, than someone with the same car, same driving record, within city limits, because statistics show my exposure to risk is less. If they gave you a book to read, the statistics would be hundreds of pages for each state. And somewhere in those pages would be proof that driving becomes more or maybe less, dangerous when you cross that state line.

Can i quit smoking one week before my insurance company medical exam and my test results be negative?

If so, what happens if I die from lung cancer 20 years later? Will the insurance company protest or pay up?

Moral aspects of lying on the application are one part of the issue.

1. The technicalities though are such that the medical test will not show anything after 3 days of not smoking – I have read an article on that.

2. Contestability period is limited to 2 years in California and many other states (insurance is regulated at the state, not federal level). For insurance company to contest the policy the person should die from smoking, not from another cause.

3. Since insurance fraud happens allot it is being calculated into the premium – we all are paying for that insuring cars, homes, autos and lives.

Let’s look at an example.

Bob has a job. He has health insurance. He gets cancer, and his insurance company pays for his tens of thousands of dollars worth of treatments.

The economy goes south, Bob gets laid off. He has to choose between health insurance and losing his house, so he obviously needs to stop the insurance. Later, Bob gets re-hired, and despite the fact that he can afford insurance, he can never get it again, because he has a pre-existing condition.

But no, we need LESS government regulation of the insurance industry. LOL!

That would be like buying a car with a bad transmission!!! Think about it!!! LOL

I’m buying a 2 story building thats zoned for warehouse/storage. Its empty now and I want to rent out space for art studios, upstairs and maybe an arcade downstairs. The sale price of the building is 130,000. What type of insurance is best and aprox how much it costs? Any advice would be great.

It would be a real estate lessors risk policy.
Most companies dont insure vacant buildings, so youd probably have to get it once you have tenants there, or at least an agreement showing that you will be getting tenats.
You need to give property information: year built of warehouse, square footage, # of stories, alarm?, sprinkler?, roof type, garage/parking style, type of tenants, estimated annual income/rents collected,
corporation/individual business? building updates?
If you are closing escrow, you can have the insurance company bill the escrow for the premium for the first year.
